I really liked this visualization from Matt Chambers of Sir Viz-A-Lot looking at where Clemson football recruits come from. I wanted to do something similar with Syracuse University basketball recruits (because I'm not a huge football fan, and I'm definitely not a Clemson fan).
First, I looked at where each player went to high school and filtered by the recruiting class year, their playing position, and the number of stars ESPN assigned to them (all data was pulled from ESPN). Then I noticed that many of the players went to high school in a different place than from where they are from. So I created a bar chart showing how far away some basketball players go for high school. Again, I created filters based on number of stars and their position.
